Novatec^™ LL is alinear low density polyethylene. The density of linear low density polyethylene is controlled by copolymerising with butene or hexene etc. as a comonomer, with the type of branching and strength characteristics dependent on the type of comonomer. Transparency increases as the degree of crystallinity decreases.

The general characteristics of polyethylene include the following.
1) Characteristics of workability and the product’s physical qualities occur due to density, molecular weight, molecular weight distribution and branch structure (type, distribution of branching degree). Several grades have been placed on the market for different applications.

2) Rigidity increases with density. The density of L-LDPE is controlled by copolymerising with butene or hexene etc. as a comonomer, with the type of branching and strength characteristics dependent on the type of comonomer. The distribution of branching degree in the grades using metallocene catalysts is uniform, for making moulded items with good strength and surface characteristics.

3) Appearance varies with crystallinity. LDPE and L-LDPE with low crystallinity have high transparency.

4) Has extremely good shock resistance (cold resistance). This is because transition point of polyethylene is very low (Tg = -120°C).

5) For adhesion and printing, as the surface tension is low, the surface must be modified by corona discharge treatment or flame treatment etc.

6) Has excellent water and chemical resistance.

7) Has excellent electrical properties. In particular, dielectric loss is low and it has good electric insulation.

8) Extremely low coefficient of water absorption.

9) Easily permeated by gases such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen etc, but with low moisture permeability, so excellent for moisture-protective films.

Novatec^™ LL (linear low density polyethylene) is used in a wide range of fields from light packaging such as food packaging to heavy-duty sacks such as rice sacks.
It is also used in engineering components, caps/lids, electrical cables and tanks etc.

Food container caps, tableware, kitchen utensils, toys, miscellaneous goods
